Mission
At SJSU ASCE, our mission is to support and connect civil engineering students by creating opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. We aim to bridge the gap between what we learn in class and what we’ll face in the real world by hosting hands-on projects, networking events, industry tours, and competitions. Our goal is to build a strong community where students can learn from each other, get involved, and prepare for successful careers in civil engineering.

Membership Benefits
As a member of the San José State University (SJSU) chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), students gain access to a wide range of professional, academic, and social benefits. Membership provides opportunities to network with industry professionals through guest speaker events, company tours, and semesterly networking events. Students can develop technical skills and leadership experience by participating in hands-on projects and national competitions like Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe. ASCE also offers academic support, mentorship programs, and workshops to help members succeed in their coursework and prepare for licensure exams. Beyond academics, members enjoy a strong community through social events, volunteer activities, and collaborations with other engineering organizations, fostering friendships and professional connections that last beyond graduation.
